Welcome Sixth Graders!

I hope everyone is having a great summer break! I know everyone will soon be gearing up to return to school so I wanted to post a few reminders.

Classroom Supply Lists

The sixth grade supply list can be found under the forms tab found at the top of the home page.  These are the supplies we will use at minimum.  We always need extra tissues, glue, loose leaf paper, and band aids.

I hope everyone has a great summer break!  The students worked hard this year and accomplished a lot. Thank you for allowing me to be their 6th grade teacher.

Senior Graduation

Senior graduation will be held in the New Gym on May 12 at 10:00.

Achievement Testing

Achievement testing is scheduled for Monday - Wednesday.  All students needs to bring at least two #2 pencils and a calculator with a square root function.  Extra erasers and pencils are encouraged.  Please make sure students get plenty of rest and be ready for testing Monday morning.

Achievement Testing

Achievement testing is scheduled for Monday, 5/7, to Wednesday, 5/9. We will practice with calculators on Wednesday, 5/2.  All students are required to bring a calculator.

Field Trip

The field trip is scheduled for Monday, 4/30.  An online waiver must be completed for each student.  Visit the Launch Pad website to complete.

Field Trip

Permission slips are due on Friday, 4/27, for the field trip to Launch Pad & the Poky Dot.  Also, please complete the Launch Pad waiver on line by Friday.

Parent Teacher Conference

Progress Reports

Progress reports were sent home on Friday.  Please review, sign and return on Monday. 

Food Pantry

NLCA is collecting donations for the local food pantry.  Non-perishable food items are needed.  A note was sent home on Thursday.  Any donation amount is most appreciated.

Parent Teacher Conferences

The fourth quarter parent teacher conferences are scheduled for Monday, 4/16, from 5p to 7p.  I will post a sign up sheet outside the classroom door.  Each appointment is limited to 15 minutes to schedule as many parents as possible, but I will gladly schedule additional time with you on another day. 

Achievement Tests

Achievement tests are scheduled May 7-9 (Monday to Wednesday).  Please keep these dates in mind while you are scheduling doctor appointments or other activities.

Rada Knife Orders

Rada fundraising orders are due back to school on 4/20.  Payment is also due on that date.  Help us reach our goal needed for our field trip!  Thank you!!

Book Report

The book report is due on Friday, 4/13.  Turn it in by Tuesday, 4/10, for bonus points.

Easter break starts on Friday, 3/30.  School will resume on Monday, 4/9.  Have a great break!!

Early Out on Friday, 3/23

School will dismiss early on Friday, 3/23!!!  Lunch will be served.  Students will be dismissed at noon.  There will not be Lion's Den or vans on Friday so please plan accordingly.  Thank you!

Volunteer Day - Wednesday 3/21

Wednesday, 3/21, will be our Spring Volunteer Day.  Whether it be 30 minutes or 3 hours, your time and assistance are greatly appreciated as we get ready for our accreditation.  Please contact the main office if you can help.

Walking Taco and Bake Sale - Wednesday 3/21

Sixth grade will be hosting a Walking Taco and Bake Sale on Wednesday.  Baked goods will also be available.  Requests for supplies will be going out on Monday but we need cookies, brownies, and other baked goods plus toppings for the tacos. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.  All proceeds go toward our field trip expenses. 

Report Cards

Report cards were handed out today.  They must be signed by a parent/guardian and returned on Monday!!

Snow Day Packets

Memos were sent home on Friday regarding snow day assignments to make up instructional hours missed due to bad weather.  Sixth grade has completed their assignments so there is no additional work at this time. 

Early Out on March 23

Students will be dismissed at noon on Friday, 3/23.  There will be no Lions' Den and no bus or van transportation. 

Research Project

The research project is due on Friday, 2/23.  There will be NO extensions.

Snow Day Assignments

When the weather service forecasts bad weather, I have been sending home "Snow Day Assignments" with the students.  This is work that needs to be completed by the next scheduled school day.  Usually, the work is additional reading assignments or worksheets.

Parent Surveys

Information has been sent home on parent surveys.  Please take time to complete the survey.  Your opinions matter! 

Parent Teacher Conferences

Please save the date!! Parent Teacher Conferences have been scheduled for Monday, 2/19, from 5:00 to 7:00pm.  I will be happy to set an earlier appointment with you (after 3:00) if that time works better for you.  I will be sending home notices with the students the week of 2/5.  Meetings need to be by appointment so that I can have your student's information ready for you.  As always, please feel free to contact me any time. 

Research Paper

All draft research papers are due on Friday, 2/9.  As mentioned in class, there is no extension due to snow days.
