Great First Week!

It was a great start to our year. Everyone has started to settle in. I am very glad to see everyone.

Upcoming for the Week of 8/21/17

Monday - Early out. School will be dismissed 3 1/2 hours early. There is no Lions Den.
Tuesday - Spelling List #1 Pretest Spelling Test
Wednesday - History Quiz (1.1-1.3); Spelling List #1 Test (if necessary); Language Quiz
Friday - Reading Vocab List #1 Quiz; Science Quiz #1 (1.1 & 1.2)

HOMEWORK POLICY

The majority of homework is work not completed in class or assignments to prepare for a test or quiz. Homework will also be assigned for special projects or to practice a newly introduced concept.

Each homework assignment has an important purpose for the student. For this reason, I will notify parents if the assignment is not done or if it is turned in late or incomplete. The student will also be given a "demerit" and possibly a recess detention. Five demerits in a nine week period will result in an in-school detention.

Students are given many opportunities throughout the day to earn "Sticker Charts" that he/she may use to erase a demerit (only after the missing or late assignment is completed and turned in the following day signed by a parent). If not completed and returned as stated, the student will be given a zero and retain the demerit. Sticker Charts may also be used to add 5 points to a test or quiz grade (only after the student uses his/her textbook to correct the test or quiz.)

Demerits are given as consequences for unacceptable behavior. Sticker Charts are given as rewards for good behavior and achievements.
