Upcoming for the Week of 1/16/17

Monday - No school (Holiday)
Tuesday - Science Quiz 14 (4.3-4.4); Spelling Pre-test on List 20; History Quiz 11 (Map Mastery #8 and Section 6.3)
Wednesday - Spelling Test List 20 (if necessary); Language Quiz 7
Thursday - Bible Memory Verse Ps 19:10-11; History Quiz 12 (6.5-6.6)

Spirit Week

Bible Verse - Practice your special Spirit Week memory verse (Deu 20:3). Be prepared to recite it!!
Penny Wars - Save those pennies. The class with the most "Penny Points" will win!!

WV Young Writers Contest

Be prepared to work on your entries for the WV Young Writers' Contest the week of 1/23/17. We will be spending time in class to the project. Students should have their ideas for their entry by 1/23.

HOMEWORK POLICY

The majority of homework is work not completed in class or assignments to prepare for a test or quiz. Homework will also be assigned for special projects or to practice a newly introduced concept.

Each homework assignment has an important purpose for the student. For this reason, I will notify parents if the assignment is not done or if it is turned in late or incomplete. The student will also be given a "demerit" and possibly a recess detention. Five demerits in a nine week period will result in an in-school detention.

Students are given many opportunities throughout the day to earn "Sticker Charts" that he/she may use to erase a demerit (only after the missing or late assignment is completed and turned in the following day signed by a parent). If not completed and returned as stated, the student will be given a zero and retain the demerit. Sticker Charts may also be used to add 5 points to a test or quiz grade (only after the student uses his/her textbook to correct the test or quiz.)

Demerits are given as consequences for unacceptable behavior. Sticker Charts are given as rewards for good behavior and achievements.
